United Progressive Democrats are hosting a Voter Registration Day that also encourages constituents to vote by mail for New Jersey’s gubernatorial election in November. The event is Sunday, September 17, noon to 2p.m., First Presbyterian Church basement (side entrance), 300 University Boulevard, Glassboro, NJ. The event will include door prizes, refreshments, an opportunity to register to vote while also requesting a ballot by mail.
“There is higher voter participation among people that vote by mail,” says Elizabeth Volze, Founder of United Progressive Democrats and organizer of the event. “Mail-in voters don’t get delayed by weather events or work schedules. For people who choose to volunteer for campaigns, voting by mail frees up election day to work for their candidate,” she adds.
The group plans to do similar events around South Jersey leading up to the state’s gubernatorial election.
United Progressive Democrats holds its weekly meetings on Sundays, noon to 1 p.m., First Presbyterian Church basement (side entrance), 300 University Boulevard, Glassboro, NJ. Led by former congressional staffers, Indivisible is a nationwide grassroots effort launched to help regular citizens (Many of whom have never been politically involved before) organize for Progressive, Democratic ideals.
