Dr. Erica Miller, primary veterinarian at the Brandywine Zoo, will be discussing her paper on toxins in North American birds.
'Beyond DDT and Lead: A Review of Toxins affecting Wild Birds. Birds can come in contact with a wide variety of toxic agents, from pesticides, heavy metals, petroleum products, and other man-made chemicals to toxicants occurring naturally in the wild. Exposure can occur in many ways and settings, often affecting large numbers of birds. This presentation addresses toxicants commonly affecting wildlife, how the birds are treated when poisonings occur, and some thoughts about what can be done to prevent such poisonings in the future.'

This is a free event and open to the public.
